Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that results from chronic work-related stress.

Hello, I'm Vale Lobo !
I hope you're having a nice week 😊
Today's work environment is characterized by constant connectivity, the pressure we're under to be more productive, and the seemingly endless increase in demands. I've learned that setting clear boundaries is essential to maintaining my well-being, preserving my mental health, and fostering healthy work relationships.
Why are boundaries essential at work?
1. Prevention of burnout and stress
Failure to learn to set boundaries can lead to professional burnout, anxiety attacks, or " burnout ," a state of chronic fatigue that affects both our physical and mental health. Constant stress and an overload of tasks without time to recover can trigger this syndrome. To do this, it's necessary to consider our own needs to avoid feelings of lack of control, where we may be unable to recognize and manage the emotions we experience.
2. Improved productivity and work quality
Contrary to popular belief, more working hours don't always translate into greater productivity. It's vital that we define work schedules, rest periods, and downtime. By doing so, I discovered that my concentration and efficiency increased.
3. Promote healthy working relationships
Respecting personal and professional boundaries with colleagues fosters a work environment based on mutual respect. Learning to say " no " assertively has strengthened my relationships with colleagues and superiors, avoiding misunderstandings, gossip, and awkward situations. This has also facilitated team collaboration and conflict resolution.

4. Work-life balance
Separating work time from personal time is essential for maintaining satisfying personal relationships and engaging in recreational activities that contribute to our overall well-being. Setting boundaries allowed me to dedicate time to my family, friends, and myself. This balance not only improved my quality of life but also motivated me at work.

Strategies for setting effective boundaries that I recommend:
Express clearly and respectfully our needs and expectations.
Establish specific times for work and rest.
Learn to share responsibilities to avoid overload.
Incorporate practices that promote physical and mental health, such as exercise, rest, and recreational activities.
Reflect on what is essential for our well-being and performance.
Setting boundaries doesn't mean rejecting responsibilities, but rather recognizing our own limits so we can perform optimally and healthily. By doing so, I not only improved my well-being but also contributed to a more respectful and productive work environment. Today, I invite you to reflect on your own boundaries and set them firmly and clearly.
